This reminds me of an interesting article on sections of S-Korea, called FEZs http://athousandnations.com/2009/10/16/marketing-a-free-market/
The portioning off of sections for specific purposes by the S-Korean government I found a bit unsettling, but this kind of thing certainly contributes to social sciences..
